What this means for you
An increase of 260 posts on a base of roughly 11,400 is modest, about 2 percent, so it is good news but not a reason to change how you prepare. What matters more is your own state and category: IBPS Clerk vacancies are counted state-wise, and an overall increase need not be spread evenly, so look up the revised figure for the state you applied in. Keep in mind that the prelims only screens candidates for the Main exam; provisional allotment is decided on Main exam marks, and there is no interview for this post. Once your prelims sitting is over, move straight to Main exam preparation, especially General/Financial Awareness, which the prelims does not test. Check the revised state-wise and category-wise table on the official IBPS Clerical Cadre XVI page.
