RRB Station Master (CEN 08/2026): 1,265 posts for graduates; apply online from 27 October to 25 November 2026

The Railway Recruitment Boards have published Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 08/2026 for the recruitment of Station Master in Level 6 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (initial pay Rs 35,400, medical standard A-2). Corrigendum No. 1, dated 27.10.2026, corrects the total vacancies for all RRBs to 1,265 instead of the 1,215 printed in the notice; the RRB-wise and zone-wise distribution is in Annexure-B. Candidates need a graduate degree from a recognised university or its equivalent by the closing date and must be 20 to 33 years old as on 01.01.2027, with age relaxations as given in the CEN. Online applications are open from 27.10.2026 to 25.11.2026 (23:59 hrs) on www.rrbapply.gov.in; the application fee can be paid until 27.11.2026, and a modification window with a modification fee runs from 28.11.2026 to 07.12.2026. Selection is by a computer based test (CBT) of 100 questions in 120 minutes with 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer (an indicative 60 questions on Basic Science, Mathematical and Analytical Capability, 20 on Logical Capability and 20 on Mental Reasoning), followed by a computer based aptitude test (CBAT) for candidates shortlisted up to 8 times the vacancies RRB-wise, with no negative marking in the CBAT. The merit list gives 70% weightage to the CBT and 30% to the CBAT, and is followed by document verification and medical examination.

What this means for you

Check eligibility before you pay: the degree must already be complete by the closing date, and the notice says those still awaiting their final-year result should not apply. Choose your RRB with care, because the RRB you pick cannot be changed later and vacancies are counted RRB-wise (Annexure-B); use the corrected total of 1,265 from Corrigendum No. 1, not the 1,215 printed in the notice. For preparation, the CBT is a screening test of 100 questions in 120 minutes with 1/3 mark cut for each wrong answer, so guess only when you can rule out options. Note that the Logical Capability section includes reading comprehension passages in English, which Hindi-medium candidates should practise early. The CBAT has no negative marking but must be qualified, and it carries 30% of the final merit, so do not treat it as a formality. Our RRB NTPC mocks follow the NTPC CBT pattern, not this one; use them for the overlapping maths and reasoning topics.
