One post, two services

When applying, candidates mark their preference between the Bihar Police district forces and the Bihar Special Armed Police battalions. Selected candidates are allotted a service and unit by merit and that preference.

Before appointment, every selected candidate goes through a medical examination (the notification names eyesight, colour blindness, hearing and stammering among the checks) and character verification, and is appointed only if found fit. Appointment is made by the district Superintendent of Police or the battalion commandant, or a Superintendent-level officer named by the Director General of Police.

Pay: Level 3 of the pay matrix

The notification prints the pay of the Constable post as Level 3, ₹21,700 – ₹69,100.

The notification does not state an in-hand salary or list allowances, so this page does not estimate one. Your actual pay depends on the allowances and deductions in force at the time of your appointment.

The pay figure above is copied from the Board’s 2025 notification. The official notification is the authority, so confirm current numbers against the Board’s Advt. No. 01/2025 (PDF).
