MP Police Constable Salary 2026: Official Pay Scale and Job Profile

Constable (G.D.) in Madhya Pradesh Police

The rule book states that all the posts are third-class executive posts. When applying, candidates choose their cadre and unit preferences, and selected candidates are allotted a cadre by preference and merit.

A selected candidate is not posted in the home district, and must serve at least 5 years in the unit before becoming eligible to move to another unit. After appointment, a constable can also be posted to other branches of the police and to other Madhya Pradesh government departments, inside or outside the state — for example the State Economic Offences Wing or the Special Police Establishment (Lokayukta) — without needing his or her consent.

Constable (G.D.), Special Armed Force (SAF)

Open to men only; women candidates are not considered for this cadre.

Constable (G.D.), other units

Open to men and women. The unit list includes the district police and the Government Railway Police at Indore, Jabalpur and Bhopal.

Pay: the scale printed in the rule book

The rule book prints the pay scale of Constable (G.D.) as ₹19,500 – ₹62,000. For the first three years a stipend is paid: 70% of the minimum of the scale in the first year, 80% in the second year and 90% in the third year.

Other allowances and emoluments sanctioned by the government from time to time are also payable, and the defined-contribution pension system applies to employees appointed on or after 1 January 2005.
