RRB ALP Salary 2026: Official Pay Level and Job Profile

RRB ALP recruits Assistant Loco Pilots. CEN 01/2026 notifies this single post, so “what does ALP pay” has one answer on paper: the 7th CPC pay level and initial pay below. The notification does not describe the post’s day-to-day duties, so this page does not either.

One post, with strict medical standards

The post is Assistant Loco Pilot, Pay Level 2, medical standard A-1. The notification says the ALP post has stringent medical standards, covering vision as well as physical and other standards, and that candidates found medically unsuitable are not given any alternative appointment. Candidates who have had Lasik or other surgery to correct a refractive error are not eligible, and the notification marks the post as not suitable for persons with benchmark disabilities.

The qualification is Matriculation/SSLC plus an ITI or Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in a listed trade (Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic Radio and TV, Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature and Coil Winder, Mechanic Diesel, Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, or Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Mechanic), or Matriculation/SSLC plus a three-year Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or Automobile Engineering in lieu of ITI. Selected candidates undergo training wherever it is prescribed, and the notification says only a stipend is paid during training. Those finally appointed are liable for active service in the Railway Engineers’ Unit of the Territorial Army. A railway servant is ordinarily employed throughout service on the zonal railway or production unit of first appointment, and the notification says no transfer request is registered until the new appointee has completed at least 5 to 10 years of service.

Pay: Level 2, initial pay as printed in the notification

The notification gives Pay Level 2 of the 7th CPC pay matrix and an initial pay of ₹19,900 for Assistant Loco Pilot.

The notification gives no in-hand salary, allowance or benefit figures, so this page does not estimate any.

Pay, qualification and medical standards are set by the official notification and any corrigendum to it. Confirm them against the official RRB website, under CEN 01/2026.
