SBI Clerk Salary 2026: Official Pay Scale and Job Profile

SBI recruits its own clerical staff, separately from IBPS, as Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales). The 2026 advertisement (CRPD/CR/2026-27/17, 7,680 vacancies) is specific about pay, starting emoluments, probation and transfers, and this page sticks to what it says. It does not estimate take-home pay.

What the advertisement says about the job

Recruitment is State/UT-wise: you apply for the vacancies of one State or UT only and are considered only for that State or UT.

You must be proficient in the local language you opt for in that State or UT (reading, writing, speaking and understanding). A language test is held after the Main exam and before joining, unless you have a 10th or 12th standard mark sheet or certificate showing you studied that language. Candidates who fail it are not offered appointment.

There is no inter-circle or inter-state transfer before five years of service. After five years, the Bank may consider a transfer request only in exceptional cases, such as extreme compassionate or spouse grounds.

Probation and promotion

You are on probation for at least six months and must complete the e-lessons the Bank prescribes to be confirmed; until you do, probation is extended. Your performance is evaluated before probation ends, and it may be extended if your performance falls short of the Bank’s expectations.

Pay: starting basic ₹26,730

SBI puts total starting emoluments at a metro like Mumbai at around ₹46,000 a month, including DA and other allowances at the current rate; allowances vary with the place of posting. That is gross pay, not take-home pay, and this page does not estimate in-hand pay.
