Indian Railways prepares for Special Campaign 6.0 on Swachhata and pendency

The Ministry of Railways reported preparations underway for Special Campaign 6.0, a government-wide drive to institutionalise Swachhata (cleanliness) in offices and clear pending administrative matters, running in two phases: a Preparatory Phase from 15 to 30 September 2026, followed by an Implementation Phase from 2 to 31 October 2026. During the Preparatory Phase, participating organisations identify pending references from the PMO, VIPs, state governments and Parliament, assess volumes of redundant material for disposal, finalise disposal procedures, and strengthen e-waste segregation and record/space management. The Implementation Phase then works toward the targets set during preparation. Focus areas across the campaign include timely clearance of MPs' References, state government references, inter-ministerial communications, Parliamentary Assurances, PMO references, and public grievances tracked on the CPGRAMS portal. Special Campaigns for Swachhata and pendency reduction have run in earlier editions across multiple ministries and are a recurring feature of India's administrative-reform current affairs.
