The exam

One-tier exam (Technical/Teaching): Section A
Objective multiple-choice questions of one mark each on five general subjects of equal weight: General Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability, Arithmetical & Numerical Ability, Hindi Language & Comprehension, and English Language & Comprehension. Section A has no minimum qualifying marks, but its marks are added to Section B’s for the final merit list.
The same paper: Section B
Objective questions of one mark each on the subject of the post, including questions on teaching methodology / B.Ed. This is the section with minimum qualifying marks: in Advt. No. 06/2025, 40% for General/EWS, 35% for OBC (Delhi) and 30% for SC/ST/PwBD, with a 5% relaxation for ex-servicemen subject to a minimum of 30%. On equal marks in the same category, the candidate with more marks in Section B ranks higher.
Before you apply: CTET and B.Ed.
For the subject TGT posts, a pass in CTET conducted by CBSE is part of the essential qualification, along with a bachelor’s degree in the subject with at least 50% marks (or a master’s degree, with 50% in either degree) and a B.Ed., or a 4-year integrated B.El.Ed., B.Sc.B.Ed. or B.A.B.Ed. course as listed for each post. CTET is also compulsory for the Special Education Teacher post; the advertisement does not list it for Drawing Teacher.

What’s tested

Section A: General Awareness
Current events, history, polity, the Constitution, sports, art and culture, geography, economics, everyday science, scientific research, and national and international organisations and institutions.
Section A: General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability
Topics such as analogy, classification, series, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense and logical Venn diagrams.
Section A: Arithmetical & Numerical Ability
Topics such as number systems, simplification, decimals, data interpretation, fractions, LCM and HCF, ratio and proportion, percentage, average, and profit and loss.
Section A: Hindi and English Language & Comprehension
Two separate tests, one in Hindi and one in English, each covering vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and their correct usage.
Section B: your subject
Graduation-level questions on the subject of the post, following the Board’s indicative syllabus for each post code. For example, TGT Mathematics covers calculus, algebra, real analysis, differential equations, group and ring theory, linear algebra, metric spaces and complex analysis; TGT Social Science covers history, geography, economics and civics; TGT Natural Science covers physics, chemistry and biology topics, including zoology; and the language posts centre on the literature of the language concerned.
Section B: Teaching Education and Methodology
Every post’s indicative syllabus ends with the same ten topics: learning and teaching; language across the curriculum; understanding disciplines and subjects; gender, school and society; pedagogy of a school subject; knowledge and curriculum; assessment for learning; creating an inclusive school; childhood and growing up; and drama and art in education.

Questions are bilingual (Hindi and English), except in the language tests, and there is negative marking for wrong answers. The Section B syllabi are indicative and print no marks or weightage for their topics. The number of questions, marks and timing are set by each advertisement and can change, so treat the subjects above as the shape to study toward, and check DSSSB Advt. No. 06/2025 (PDF).
