IBPS Clerk Salary 2026: Official Pay Scale and Job Profile

IBPS Clerk is a common recruitment process for Customer Service Associates (clerical cadre) in eleven public sector banks. The CRP CSA-XVI notification (vacancies of 2027-28) gives one pay scale and leaves allowances, duties and promotion to the bank you are allotted. This page sticks to what the notification says, and does not estimate take-home pay.

State-wise recruitment, eleven banks

The participating banks are Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, UCO Bank and Union Bank of India.

Clerical recruitment is State/UT-wise: you apply for the vacancies of one State or UT only and are considered only for that State or UT. After the Main exam, shortlisted candidates are provisionally allotted to a bank on merit-cum-preference, against the vacancies the banks actually report for 2027-28; the vacancies in the notification are indicative.

You must be proficient in the local language you opt for in that State or UT (reading, writing, speaking and understanding). A Local Language Proficiency Test is held after the Main exam or allotment and before joining, unless you have a 10th-standard or higher mark sheet or certificate showing you studied that language. Candidates who fail it are not offered appointment.

Provisional allotment is not an offer of employment: the allotted bank verifies your documents and eligibility before any offer.

Probation and promotion

The notification does not describe probation, the duties or promotion. These follow the policy of the bank you are allotted, and this page does not guess at them.

Pay: basic pay from ₹24,050

The notification gives the basic pay scale as ₹24,050-1,340/3-28,070-1,650/3-33,020-2,000/4-41,020-2,340/7-57,400-4,400/1-61,800-2,680/1-64,480: ₹24,050 to start, rising through stages of increments to ₹64,480.

Allowances and perquisites are as per the rules of the allotted bank in force at the time. The notification does not list them or give in-hand pay, and this page does not estimate it.
