Time allowed: 180 minutes. Negative marking: For each wrong answer, one-third of the question's marks is deducted. (The scheme's English note says "1/3 mark"; the Hindi instruction on the question booklet says 1/3 of the question's marks, and the Board's result formula deducts one-third of each question's marks.) Each question has five circles: A to D for the answer and E for 'question not attempted'. - One objective (multiple-choice) paper of 3 hours: 150 questions for 300 marks, and all questions carry equal marks. The scheme also gives an approximate weightage for each subject: 25, 20, 15, 30 and 10.
- 10 extra minutes are given after the scheduled time to make sure one circle has been darkened for every question.
- The marks obtained in this exam decide the order of merit. In the 2025 cycle the Board shortlisted candidates up to twice the advertised posts in each category for eligibility check and document verification.
- The 2025 exam was held in two shifts on 17 August 2025, so the Board normalised the scores with an equi-percentile formula.
