MoD signs Rs 811 crore contract with BDL for 160 Satellite Smart Anti Airfield Weapons

The Ministry of Defence signed a contract with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) on 23 September 2026 for the procurement of 160 Satellite Smart Anti Airfield Weapons (SAT-SAAW), worth Rs 810.79 crore, under the Buy (Indian - IDDM) category, in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. SAT-SAAW is an air-to-ground precision-guided glide bomb, indigenously designed by DRDO, launchable from Jaguar, Hawk and Su-30 MKI aircraft to neutralise enemy airfields from long stand-off range, with 60% indigenous content. Delivery is scheduled between 2027-28 and 2028-29, and the weapon is intended to boost the Indian Air Force's operational capability as part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat push in defence manufacturing.
