Cabinet Approves Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for Rabi Crops for Marketing Season 2027-28
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved increased Minimum Support Prices for all mandated Rabi crops for Marketing Season 2027-28. Safflower saw the largest absolute increase (Rs 675/quintal, to Rs 7,215), followed by Rapeseed & Mustard (+Rs 413, to Rs 6,613), Lentil/Masur (+Rs 390, to Rs 7,390), Barley (+Rs 136, to Rs 2,286), Gram (+Rs 83, to Rs 5,958) and Wheat (+Rs 25, to Rs 2,610). The increases keep MSP at least 1.5 times the all-India weighted average cost of production, per the Union Budget 2018-19 commitment, with margins ranging from 50% (Safflower) to 106% (Wheat).
